Owing to the COVID-19 crisis and theatres being closed for a long time, the makers of Mohanlal's much-hyped family-drama-thriller Drishyan 2 released the movie on Amazon Prime OTT platform. The Jeethu Joseph directorial entertained the global audience and won unanimous praises from the audience and critics alike. After the movie became the talk of the town, speculations were rife that Amazon Prime had purchased the movie for a record price. However, the makers didn’t reveal any other details.

Recently, it has been revealed that the movie was purchased by Amazon Prime for a whopping sum of rupees 30 Crores. A Twitter page called LetsOTT Global, which shares news and information and conducts surveys on various OTT platforms, divulged the news. “Rs 30 crores, highest for a Malayalam film. Prime is happy with the terrific response," read the tweet.

Meanwhile, the satellite rights of the movie have been bought by Asia Network for a whopping sum of Rs 15 crore. With this, Drishyam 2, made on a budget of Rs 20 crore, has become one of the blockbuster films ever released on an OTT platform.
