After a remarkable performance in Tanmathra in the end of 2005, winning many acclodates and awards of the year, and also a strong contender for the national awards 2005, Mohanlal is in his hunt for down to earth characters in 2006. Starting the race and poised to hit the screens as a vishu release, is his new flick-Rasathanthram-another film that has so much to boast of in his credits.

This film is the reunification of one of the best loved actor-director pair ...Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad after a gap of 11 years. The best films of the duo ,which appeared in the 90's includes Nadodikkattu, Pattanapravesham,Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam, Gandhinagar 2nd Street and TP Balagopalan MA all great hits of the time.

Sathyan himself is writing the entire script, and dialogues for the first time in his carreer..for this eagerly waited union. Mohanlal in his 26 year old carrer is doing the role of a carpenter for the first time in this film. This character named Prathapachandran supported by unassuming freeflowing acting capabilities of lal and reciprocative direction styles by Sathyan will share the moments for applause .

Another introduction in a female lead with lal is the awesome talented national award winner, Meera jasmine-- playing the role of Kanmani a servant girl forced to dress like and behave as a male due to her societal chaos. This primal sharing of the lead character with lal is also expected to bring out another virtuoso performance in the lead.

The film planned to be shot in a single schedule is in its way to completion in the locales at Thodupuzha,The other cast in the film include Mukesh, Innocent, and Oduvil.
