Director Mohan Raja had last directed Velaikkaran, starring Siva Karthikeyan and Nayanthara in lead roles and Fahadh Faasil in a negative role. The movie was released in the fag end of 2017, and had received mixed responses from critics.

After that, the director had announced that his next movie is gonna be the sequel to his 2015 blockbuster movie Thani Oruvan that starred his brother Jayam Ravi in the lead, and Arvind Swamy as the suave and stylish powerful antagonist Siddharth Abhimanyu. Though this project was announced months back, there has been no update on the same since then.

Now the latest buzz is that, before starting Thani Oruvan 2, Mohan Raja is planning to direct a quickie in Telugu, and speculations are that his choice to play the lead role is Allu Arjun. It must be noted that Mohan Raja had debuted as a director with the Telugu flick Hanuman Junction, which was the remake of Tenkasi Pattanam.
