Senior actor Manchu Mohan Babu today appeared at a local court in Tirupathi along with his sons Manchu Vishnu and Manchu Manoj. This is in connection with a case related to his March 2019 dharma.
For the unversed, here is what happened more than three years ago. The senior actor was upset that the Andhra Pradesh government hadn't released the fee reimbursement funds meant for the Sri Vidya Niketan Educational Institutions. He proceeded on a dharna with school students. The protest resulted in traffic snarls on the Tirupati-Madanapalle highway.
The dharna triggered a police complaint from then MPDO. Since the Moral Code of Conduct was in force at that time ahead of the General elections, Mohan Babu was supposed to seek permission from the Election Commission as well as the police department. The violation of the rule book meant that the father-sons trio, Tulsi Naidu, and Satish (who is a PRO) were booked under Sections 290, 341, 171 (f) Read with 34 of the IPC as well as Section 34 of the Police Act.
The Telugu media today reported that Mohan Babu and his family attended the court by undertaking a Pada Yatra. "The Yatra was not planned. I love my supporters who turned up here to support me. I have always been popular and I don't have to try to become popular. My popularity will never wane. After the court hearing was postponed, I walked out of the court silently. I was asked to sign on papers and I did. I was not summoned," Mohan Babu said after the court appearance.
