Have you ever gotten the chance to watch Shah Rukh Khan and Priety Zinta’s ‘Veer Zara’? If you have, then you’re going to love this. This is the story of a man whose lover waited for him for a period of 14 years during which he was imprisoned. The harsh thing is that the poor and innocent man was imprisoned wrongly all the while.
Mohammed Aamir Khan was wrongly taken as the main accused in the1996-97 blasts in Delhi, Rohatak, Sonepet and Ghaziabad which ended up killing five people. Even though he was falsely charged, his true love Alia waited for a long period of 14 years to get back to Aamir Khan.
“Alia did not give up on me. I keep telling people that our love-story is the real-life version of Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta's 'Veer Zara',” Aamir told. For the uninitiated the hit film is about the story of a Pakistani girl and an imprisoned man who reunite after 14 years, just as Mohammed Aamir Khan and Alia.
Aamir also testifies that during the hard and turbulent times, it was his love which helped him pass through the pain. For the false accusation and imprisonment, Aamir has been given a compensation of Rs.5 lakhs by the National Human Rights Commission.
Another sweet fact: Aamir and Alia fell in love with each other when they went to the same tuition 20 years back in Delhi.
