Mohabbath
National Award winning actress, Meera Jasmine have not been able to attach any hits with her name in the last few years. Her films like 'Paattinte Paalazhy' though critically acclaimed were not successful at the Box Office. But for 2011, she will come up with a musical entertainer titled as 'Mohabbath'. Directed by East Coast Vijayan, the movie will have 'Gowrishankaram' fame Munna and a debutante named Anand Micheal playing leading roles. This is East Coast Vijayan's second directorial venture after 'Novel'.
'Mohabbath' is based on the novel 'Kalippavakal' written by Siddhique Shameer. Set on the backdrop of a Muslim family, Meera Jasmine plays the role of a Muslim girl Sajna in the movie. In fact, she is donning the role of a Muslim girl for the third time in her career, the first two being Padam Onnu Oru Vilapam and Perumazhakkalam. Her character in the movie Sajna hails from an aristocratic Muslim family in Malabar. She has a bosom friend from childhood in Anwar, who is also her cousin. Their families decide to get them married after the completion of their studies. But while in a college in town, Sajna falls in love with one of her classmates named Ameer. Sajna's decision to go on with her love life and to marry Ameer causes problems between two families.
While Munna play the role of Ameer, Anand is Anwar. The movie also features Jagathy Sreekumar, Nedeumudi Venu, Suraj, Salimkumatahr, Asokan, Suresh Krishna, Jaffer Idukki, P.Sreekumar, Saikumar, Devan, Seetha, and Lakshmi Priya in other important roles.
The musical also scripted by Siddhique Shameer will have some good songs by music Director S. Balakrishnan, who is making a comeback to Mollywood after a gap of almost a decade. Renowned singer Hariharan and actor-singer Mamta Mohandas are also featured in the film.
Jibu Jacob handles the camera of `Mohabbath' which is produced by the director under the banner of East Coast productions.' Mohabbath' will reach the screens as a mid summer release, this April.
