The Narendra Modi government is planning to launch a scheme that enables street vendors of food items to connect with consumers directly, the way restaurants and hotels have been doing.
As quoted by PTI, the Prime Minister has said that a scheme has been prepared to "provide an online platform to street food vendors by using technology". Through this, the street food vendors will be able to make online delivery like big restaurants.
"I urge the street vendors to adopt the digital payment system on a large scale," Modi added during a recent interaction with the vendors of Madhya Pradesh.
At a time when COVID-19 has affected the bottom line of street vendors, schemes like this are expected to help them a big deal.
