With the aim of promoting the cause of Clean India, Narendra Modi today did plogging at the famous Mamallapuram beach near Chennai, in Tamil Nadu. The Prime Minister picked up litter and put plastic cups, etc in a bag. As per him, he did it for 30 minutes.
"Plogging at a beach in Mamallapuram this morning. It lasted for over 30 minutes. I also handed over my ‘collection’ to Jeyaraj, who is a part of the hotel staff. Let us ensure our public places are clean and tidy! Let us also ensure we remain fit and healthy," Modi tweeted out. This has become one of the most-liked tweets of the PM.
Nirwa Mehta, an author, urged Modi to wear shoes from next time at beaches. "Broken glass, discarded syringes, god knows what you find on beaches. Especially near garbage," she said.
Many are lauding Modi for being committed to Swacch Bharat.
