Superstar Rajinikanth, the legendary actor, has been given the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award by the Government of India. An announcement was today first made by Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, followed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who congratulated the Tamil actor.
"Popular across generations, a body of work few can boast of, diverse roles and an endearing personality...that’s Shri @rajinikanth Ji for you. It is a matter of immense joy that Thalaiva has been conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Congratulations to him (sic)," Modi tweeted out.
Earlier in the day, Prakash Javadekar tweeted, "Happy to announce #Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2019 to one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema Rajnikant ji. His contribution as actor, producer and screenwriter has been iconic. I thank Jury Asha Bhosle, Subhash Ghai, Mohanlal, Shankar Mahadevan and Biswajeet Chatterjee (sic)."
Soon after the announcement, Victory Venkatesh took to Twitter and congratulated the '2.0' actor. Congratulations have been pouring in from all across the country from Rajini's fans and celebs.
