Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has anko the launch of a Rs 50,000-crore employment scheme to provide financial support to migrant workers who have arrived to their native states during the corona lockdown. The scheme will be launched by the PM on Saturday.
This scheme, named ''Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan'' will focus on six states which have witnessed the return of maximum number of migrant workers. This rural public works scheme will support migrants for 125 days announced Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the scheme via video conferencing in an event which will have the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi as well. 116 districts which have more than 25,000 migrant workers across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha are chosen under the scheme.
