Looks like the national lockdown is not going to come to an end any time soon. It is scheduled as of now to end on April 14, but a 2-3 week extension is most likely.
Narendra Modi today held a meeting with the floor leaders of different parties of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and described the situation in the country as a ‘social emergency’.
He then said that the unprecedented situation has necessitated tough decisions and we must continue to remain vigilant. States, District administrations and experts have suggested extension of Lockdown to contain the spread of the virus.
When is the announcement likely to be made? The PM will do a video conference with the Chief Ministers of all States on April 11. He is expected to make an announcement after the conference. So far, eight-nine States have requested the Centre to extend the lockdown.
