Modi govt bans e-cigarettes with immediate effect

In a debatable move, the Modi government has cracked down on vaping by banning e-cigarettes in India. Earlier today, the Union Cabinet gave approval to ban e-cigarettes.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the ban encompasses the production, manufacturing, import, sale, distribution, storage, import and export, and advertising related to e-cigarettes.

The government has admittedly banned vaping keeping in view "its adverse health impacts on users".

The Cabinet has banned all forms of e-cigarettes, including Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems, Heat Not Burn Products, e-Hookah and the like devices in the country with immediate effect.

What is vaping? "It's the action or practice of inhaling and exhaling the vapour produced by an electronic cigarette or similar device," says the dictionary meaning.
