A day after the international pop singer Rihanna and activist Greta Thunberg voiced their support to the rich farmers of Punjab, the Modi government has sharpened its attack strategy by fielding legendary sportsmen such as Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. In an attempt to drive home the point that India is mature enough to handle its issues without interference from the alien forces, some of the most popular cricketers made it clear that they are standing with the government.
Master Blaster Sachin tweeted, "India’s sovereignty cannot be compromised. External forces can be spectators but not participants. Indians know India and should decide for India. Let's remain united as a nation."
Besides the duo, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Anil Kumble and Ravi Shastri also tweeted out support to the government.
It's viewed that the Centre is doing all this with the aim of impressing upon the people of India that there is an international conspiracy afoot to defame India and its democratically-elected government. For most of the Indians, a Sachin and a Kohli have greater credibility than a Rihanna and a Greta.
