Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Superstar Rajinikanth were spotted exchanging smiles and some talk at the diamond jubilee celebrations of a Tamil daily. Tamil actor Prashanth of 'Jeans' and 'Jodi' fame was seen by Rajini's side.

Only recently, Rajini congratulated the makers of 'Mersal' for addressing an "important topic" through the film. It was seen as a snub at the BJP, which had been raising objections to the way the film peddles factual inaccuracies. Back in 2014, Modi reportedly wished for Rajini's entry into politics under the BJP banner.

Attended by several celebs and personalities from different walks of life, the event has been widely reported because the BJP leader has also made it a point to call on M Karunanidhi at the former CM's Gopulapuram residence.
