Congress president Rahul Gandhi has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP have lost the people’s faith completely during the past three-and-a-half years after coming to power in May, 2014.
Rahul was speaking at a public meeting held at Thiruvananthapuram’s Central Stadium last evening to commemorate a ‘yatra’ organized by State Assembly’s Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. Rahul, who took over as the party president early this week, was in his elements as he took on the BJP and its leadership.
“Plenty of fishermen from Kerala and Tamil Nadu have been affected by ‘Cyclone Ockhi’ and Congress MPs should make it a point to raise in Parliament the issue of their rehabilitation. Like the Communist Govt. in Kerala, the ruling BJP at the Centre and the Prime Minister have completely lost people’s faith. Modi has betrayed people after 2014 after they voted for him believing that he would fulfill their aspirations and needs.
“Of late, Modi has stopped talking about corruption and ways of curbing it. BJP president Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah’s income multiplied from a mere Rs.50,000 to Rs.8 crores about which Modi has remained silent so far. Rafale aircraft deal is also a shady one which hasn’t been spoken about by him,” Rahul Gandhi said while addressing the rally after meeting and consoling families of fishermen who lost their lives during ‘Cyclone Ockhi’ a few weeks back.
