Modati Cinema

Saturday, October 22, 2005 • Telugu Comments

Some actors, despite not having the right results to show for at the box office, always manage to find the right films.

Navdeep is proving to be one. The young actor has not had a single big hit so far in his career.

Having started with the tepid Jeyam, Navdeep has moved from one flop to another, even while managing to hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons (his run-in with Ankitha during the shoot of Manasu Maata Vinadu is now in famous in the industry). Yet Navdeep is the most active actor on the circuit.

He has a slew of film waiting for him. The young Navdeep  has been signed by Rajarajeswari Combines for their next untitled film in which he co-stars Sheela. Then there is the film for his Teja and another for Visu Films Pvt Ltd in which he co-stars Sindu Tolani.

But it is Modati Cinema is the talking point of all.

Newcomer Kuchipudi Venkat, the director, seems a smart guy. He doesn't promise the moon. He simply says the film is a typical entertainer with romance playing the center role.

Modati Cinema is Navdeep's best chance to prove that he is an actor to be reckoned with. The film may have a quaint title, but it will offer you plenty of entertainment, he says.  He plays a typical lover boy. The lover girl is Poonam. This is another import from upcountry. This Pune girl arrives here courtesy a beauty pageant (no surprises there, actually).

She is also pretty impressed with the film, saying that it has all the elements that will interest the youths. She says that she enjoyed working with Navdeep. It was all fun, is the general fun.

The music is one of the highlights of the film with Swaraj, the young and talented musician, tuning in some melodious numbers.

The film's other highlight would be the choice of locations. It has been shot in exotic places like Sikkim (something no Indian film has done before).

Kuchipudi Venkat is sure that the film would do well. But we have to wait till the weekend, when the film releases, to know the verdict.
