On August 27, a shocking incident of theft took place on the border of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu when a gang of thieves hijacked a container that was transporting mobile phones worth Rs 12 crore to Mumbai. At Nagari in Chittoor district, burglars hijacked the container and stole hundreds of gadgets worth Rs 6 crore.

A similar incident has happened in less than a month. This time, it took place on the National Highway near Guntur. Mobile phones worth up to Rs 80 lakh were on Thursday morning reportedly stolen from a running container, which was Kolkata-bound.

As per an NDTV report, the container was moving when the burglary took place. As the gang was emptying about 900 gadgets, the driver of a vehicle passing by on the same road alerted the container's driver. By the time he could get down and stop the thieves, they fled the scene.

An investigation is on.
