MM Keeravani is a renowned music director, best known for his musical scores in 'Baahubali' and 'RRR'. He is currently enjoying his Golden Globe Award win and the Oscars nomination, for the song 'Naatu Naatu' from RRR, under the Best Original Song category. Now, the veteran artist has won a prestigious award from the Indian government.
The Government of India announced Padma Awards for 2023 on January 25. Keeravaani will be bestowed with the Padma Shri Award. Taking to Twitter, the musician wrote, "Much honoured by the civilian award from the Govt of India. Respect for my parents and all of my mentors from Kavitapu Seethanna garu to Kuppala Bulliswamy Naidu garu on this occasion." (sic)
SS Rajamouli, the director of RRR and Keeravani's brother tweeted, "Like many of your fans feel, this recognition indeed was long over due. But, as you say the universe has a strange way of rewarding one's efforts.If I can talk back to universe, I would say, 'Please give us a gap. Let us enjoy one award and then go for the next.' MY PEDDANNA. MM KEERAVAANI. RECIPIENT OF PADMA SHRI AWARD. PROUD!!!" (sic).
Meanwhile, MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose (Naatu Naatu) were honoured by the Telangana Government at the Republic Day function in Hyderabad for making them proud. The state's governor, Tamilisai Soundararajan, felicitated the artists who made the Golden Globe winning and Oscar nominated song. At the event, MM Keeravaani said, "This achievement is not mine alone, it's an achievement of all my mentors, brothers and supporters."
