Actor Radharavi had spoken in a derogatory manner about Lady Superstar Nayanthara in the trailer launch event of her next release Kolaiyuthir Kaalam directed by Unnai Pol Oruvan and Billa 2 maker Chakri Toleti and produced by Mathialagan of Etcetera entertainment, and the actor had in fact not acted in the movie.

Following his sexist remarks degrading Nayanthara and womenfolk in general there had been a huge uprising against Radharavi in the industry and many celebrities offered solidarity to Nayanthara, and demanded action against the veteran actor. On the other end, Radharavi also faced backlash in his political career.

Radharavi had been temporarily suspended from DMK, and DMK president M K Stalin had tweeted that being in a party like DMK which advocates women's rights and Radharavi speaking in a degrading manner on his own film industry women is unacceptable and condemnable. He added that members of the party must make their opinions in a dignified manner and strong action will be taken against those violating this.
