The 50 days function of Thanikella Bharani's 'Mithunam' has been held at Ravindra Bharathi today. The event has been attended by famous Telugu celebrities like K.Viswanath, Dasari Narayana Rao, K.Raghavendra Rao,Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, Sri Ramana SP Bala Subramanyam, Lakshmi, Thanikella Bharani etc.

On this occasion, The director of the film, Thanikella Bharani says," At first when we went for the first day morning show at Usha Mayuri theatre, there are only 7 people. Then the count increased and the total count came to 30. All of them are aged people above 60. A 87 year old woman came with a walker. Gradually the mouth talk picked, and ran for 50 days at the same theatre. I felt very happy , when a software engineer said that he has replaced the photo of Aishwarya Rai with his parents photo, after seeing the movie.

Famous writer and actor, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao says, "I have read the story of Mithunam before and thought it was not meant for a movie. But the way Thanikella Bharani has moulded it into film without losing its essence is really appreciatable. I saw the tmovie in Vizag and the theatre owner said me that he has never seen before that section of audience coming to movie, that are all above 70 years".

'Kala Thapasvi' K.Viswanath says, " Thanikella is lucky to get 7 people for the first show, as I saw only 5 people on the first day, at the main theatre for 'Shankara bharanam'. Thanikella has become a competition for me in direction and I am jealous of SP Balu for getting such a good character.

The writer of the story 'Mithunam' story, Sri Ramana, said that he had written the story 15 years back and that, the original story contains 3 characters with a Kid acting as a mediator between the pair.

Dasari Narayana says that Mithunam for SP Balu is how Devadasu and Shankarabharanam are for ANR and Somayajulu and that he expects the film and actors should get National awards,

SP Balu says," I have been very lucky to get fame in all the departments I am in every time. I thank god for giving me the right job all the time". He praised Lakshmi for her acting skills.

The producer Ananda Rao said that he has been self satisfied with the film and also said that Thanikella and he regarded Lord Shiva as their Pro whenever they had problems at the shooting.

Lakshmi says that though at first hesitated to act in the role fearing its complexity, Thanikella and SP Balu has encouraged her and she praised them.
