With road accidents increasing every year, city roads have become pathways to death. A recent incident in which a 16 year old boy lost his life has brought great shock and sorrow to the residents of Chennai.

Akash who was in class 11 did not possess a licence nor was wearing a helmet when he took his classmate girl to a tuition centre. Losing control of his Bajaj Pulsar 200cc, he crashed into a pedestrian. Though he was rushed to a hospital, Akash did not survive. The pillion rider  and the pedestrian have escaped with injuries.

The traffic police wing has filed a case against his mother Meena Venkatesh for allowing a minor son to ride a bike without licence. It is worth noting here that the vehicle was under her name. She has been booked under sections 5 and section 180 of the Motor Vehicles Act. As of now, the cops haven’t arrested the mother as she has to complete the last rites for his son.
