Kathleen Wilson of Minneapolis is suing dentist Dr. Kevin Molldrem of Molldrem Family Dentistry over dental work in July 2020. She alleges receiving eight crowns, four root canals, and 20 fillings in one visit, leaving her disfigured and in severe pain. Wilson pursued other dentists to rectify the issues. In her lawsuit, she accuses Molldrem of surpassing safe anesthesia limits and falsifying records to conceal this, seeking damages of at least $50,000.
Dr. Avrum Goldstein, appointed by Wilson's legal team, reviewed Molldrem and other physicians' records. Goldstein acknowledged Molldrem's accurate diagnosis of widespread tooth decay but criticized the treatment execution. He described the attempt to address all dental problems in a single visit as contrary to recommended practice and practically unattainable.
While acknowledging Wilson's ongoing dental stabilization efforts at the University of Minnesota Dental School in 2022, the lawsuit concentrates on Molldrem's alleged infractions. Goldstein specifically highlighted Molldrem's administration of an anesthetic dose of 960 milligrams, well over the 490 milligram limit for extended sessions.
The lawsuit emphasizes the need for proper dental care, citing Molldrem's alleged shortcomings. It focuses on the excessive treatment during a single session and the absence of considerations for Wilson's health concerns and the potential risk of tooth loss. The legal action seeks resolution regarding Molldrem's allegedly inappropriate dental care procedures that caused Wilson’s distressing dental ordeal.
