The massive rain all over Karnataka has filled almost all the dams and canals but for the Bengalureans the great worry is the potholes. 9400 potholes on14,118 kilometer road length have been identified and it is aftermath of heavy rain fall.

To make the road traffic free and smooth the ‘Micro Milling Machine’ that cost Rs.80 lakhs has been deployed by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike. For the first time such a machine has been functioning in city roads says BBMP commissioner N Manjunath Prasad.

The wet mix with chemicals and rapid setting technology were utilized in the past. The results turned poor. The excess clogged water removal a separate machine is working at prominent places. These machines cut two feet and make the water to flow freely.

Bengaluru has small, medium and huge potholes. In the last January it was 4000 potholes. Road damage is heavy this year says BBMP engineers. This is because of last one and half month’s rain. For every 3 kilometer there are 150 to 200 potholes.

For usage of materials to fill the potholes it requires an expenditure of Rs.16 lakhs. The work for 6400 potholes have been completed claims the BBMP.
