Days after model-actor Milind Soman posted a picture of himself running naked on a beach in Goa on the occasion of his birthday, the police have registered a case against him for allegedly promoting obscenity.

A complaint was registered against Soman by the Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) on Thursday, following which the Goa police booked the actor. Milind Soman shared the picture on Instagram on his 55th birthday, crediting his wife Ankita Konwar for the capture. "An organisation called Suraksha Manch had given a complaint against Soman for running nude on a beach in South Goa and then circulating those pictures on social media," an officer reportedly informed a news agency. The police have booked Soman under section 294 (obscene act in public place) of the Indian Penal Code and section 67 (publishing and transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information and Technology Act.

In a similar case, actress-model Poonam Pandey and her husband were arrested for shooting an allegedly obscene video at a dam in Canacona town in South Goa. The couple was later granted bail.
