Following the legendary duo Viswanathan and Ramamoorthy, Shankar Ganesh left a significant mark in the Tamil film industry. Known for their powerful presence in the world of music, they composed music for many successful films.
Shankar Ganesh made his debut as a music director with the film Maharasi. He delivered numerous hit films such as Naan Yen Pirandhen and Idhaya Veenai. Over the span of more than 50 years, he has enriched the music world in the South Indian film industry, composing for Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam films.
In an exclusive interview with Indiaglitz, he shared some interesting insights:
In the film Periya Idathu Penn, for the song Paaraappa Pazhaniyappa, I provided the unique sound effects that mimic the sounds of cattle running.
When traveling from Vadapalani to Kodambakkam, the entire area would be pitch dark at night. To overcome our fear, my friend and I would sing loudly as we walked.
After my marriage, we went to actor Sivaji Ganesan's house for a meal. At that time, Sivaji advised me, 'You have married a well-off woman, so you should quickly buy a car and a bungalow.'
We also went to MGR's (Makkal Thilagam M.G. Ramachandran) house for a meal. Janaki Amma (MGR's wife) took my wife upstairs, dressed her up beautifully, and brought her back down. We had a meal with the leader (MGR), and he advised me, 'Since you have married a woman from a wealthy family, don't spend beyond your means.' Both great actors gave me different pieces of advice.
