In the first such congressional hearing in the nation's history on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), better known as UFOs, Mexican legislators met in the chambers on Tuesday. During the hearing, the first of its kind in the nation's history, Mexican journalist and UFO enthusiast Jaime Maussan presented what he claimed to be the remains of extraterrestrial beings.

The artifacts were in glass cases; they had heads that were elongated and three fingers on each hand. Maussan said that radiocarbon dating, which had been done by UNAM for the remains in Peru, near the Nazca Lines of Peru, in the year 2017, was 1,000 years old. In the past, similar discoveries turned out to be nothing but mummified children.

Jose de Jesus Zalce Benitez, Director of the Scientific Institute for Health of the Mexican Navy, confirmed that X-rays, 3-D reconstruction, and even DNA analysis had been done on the remains, and the conclusion was that they were not related to humans.

Also adding to the stigma attached to UFO sightings was a former U.S. Navy pilot who had given testimony before the U.S. Congressional hearings where he had spoken about his close encounters with UAP, Ryan Graves.

While some welcomed the first-ever event of its nature, others were less optimistic and skeptical about the credibility of Maussan’s presentation, saying that it would have been better to wait for scientific peer-reviewed papers. Nonetheless, the hopes are high that the conference will open a door for more discussions of UAP in Mexico, just like what has happened in the U.S.

In the recent past, the U.S. government has also changed its opinion about UAP by investigating sighting reports by military personnel, even if the sighting was not related to military testing. NASA has also inaugurated its own independent team to study UFOs, whose findings are to be discussed in the near future.
