The New Year, new beginnings also means rewarding the achievers of the year gone by.
2008's first film awards brings a cheers for Life in a Metro directed by the maverick Anurag Basu and helps bring in the New Year to celebrate the year with a bang.
14th Annual STAR Screen Awards nominations for 2007 are out. Out of the 27 categories; UTV's Life in a Metro has been nominated for 14 categories, as close on the heels of Taare Zameen Paar which was given 15 nominations. These include Best Film, Best Director (Anurag Basu), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male/Female) for Sharmaan Joshi and Konkana Sen Sharma respectively, Best Background Music (Raju Singh) Best Music (Pritam) Best Playback Singer (Male) for Soham's soulful Inn dinon as well as Best Lyrics (Sayeed Quadri), Best Story and Screenplay (Anurag Basu) Best Dialogue (Sanjeev Dutta), Best Editing (Akiv Ali), Best Sound (Hitendra Ghosh).

The fate of 122 nominees adorning the nominations will be decided on January 10, 2008. The sole yardstick for judging films for the awards would be cinematic excellence. Life in a Metro thus claims a big stake on creative as well as technical awards.
