Here is one more #MeToo story. Pallavi Gogoi, a US-based journalist, has alleged that she was raped by the former BJP union minister MJ Akbar way back in 1994. It may be noted that Akbar resigned from his post last month after 20 women accused that they were sexually harassed by him.
Pallavi Gogoi says, "Those before me have given me the courage to reach into the recesses of my mind and confront the monster that I escaped from decades ago. Together, our voices tell a different truth."
She shares her ordeal in 'The Washington Post', where she pens that Akbar was her superior at an English-language daily. He used to kiss her forcibly and touch her inappropriately at times, Pallavi claims.
One fateful day, Akbar ripped off her clothes in a hotel room. She didn't complain to the police as she was "filled with shame".
Akbar has denied the allegations.
