Allegations of sexual harassment against a number of film industry men have been well reported. From Nana Patekar and Varaimuthu to Arjun, many have faced serious allegations. Some of them are even mired in police cases. There is an atmosphere of insecurity among women in the industry. In this context, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that aspiring actors and technicians among women must be scared to enter the film industry.
Allu Arjun has tried to instill confidence in women by saying that Tollywood is a benign place for all genders. "New girls should enter the industry with confidence. Of all the film industries in India, Telugu film industry is the cleanest. Ask any girl, you will know that TFI gives the highest amount of respect to girls. I invite each and every girl to come to the Telugu industry," the Mega hero said at Sunday's event of 'Taxiwaala', invoking the Me Too movement.
While Bunny's comments are most welcome, it's also true that more needs to be done. The MAA and other industry bodies should punish perpetrators. Recently, some initiatives have been taken in this regard.
