Thalapathy Vijay's 'Mersal' directed by Atlee is the biggest release of the year highly anticipated by millions of fans worldwide. The film has already surpassed several hurdles to release this Diwali.

For the first time, Vijay will star in three different looks including a magician and a village panchayat head chief. Recently it was revealed that the Panchayat chief will play a major role in the movie with his portions alone touted to be of 50 minutes of duration. The name of the character was divulged to as 'Thalapathy' much to the merry of his fans.

The movie is reportedly to have a mega global release with 3292 theaters booked for the same. In addition to this, the movie is also scheduled to sway audiences at Europe's larget cinema hall Le Grand Rex.

Evergreen comedian Vaigai Puyal will reunite with Vijay in this movie after six long years. The movie also has an ensemble cast of Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha, Nithya Menen, SJ Suryah and Kovai Sarla in other prominent roles.

The teasers and the promo of the movie has already created records and piqued the curiosity of fans as ‘Mersal’ is Vijay’s second outing with director Atlee after theri first successful venture in ‘Theri’.

The music for the film is scored by the double Oscar award recipient A.R Rahman. The cinematography for the film is done by G.K Vishnu while editing is handled by Ruben.

 'Mersal' is slated to enthrall audiences starting this festive Diwali on October 18.
