BJP’s Tamil Nadu Unit president Dr. Tamilisai Soundrarajan has announced that the Mersal controversy was over now as issues related to it have come to an ‘auspicious’ end.

Speaking to newsmen in Karur yesterday, Tamilisai said that she had been urging the cadres not to fight in Inaiyathalam (social networking sites) but to fight in Kalam (field). “In social networking sites, individuals hide their identities and indulge in individual attack on celebrities and others. It’s a wrong kind of politics. We also have our right to express opposition to certain things. Freedom of expression is for us too.

“I have been receiving death threats on my mobile which keeps ringing even in the dead of the night. I’m not afraid of such threats but am terribly upset with the present political scenario in the State. Individual criticism on issues of common interest should be avoided. We have to be cultured in our criticism of a tall leader like our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We have always favoured and practiced decent politics,” she said.

On another note, she said that now that the producer had objected to delete the controversial sequences/dialogues in the film, the Mersal controversy had come to an auspicious end.
