On Saturday night, the police caught two men standing near an ATM with Rs. 23.92 lakhs tied to their body. The two men, Abubaker from Mannadi and Mohammed Khani from Ramanathapuram were standing with a bike near Royapettah. When the patrol team saw them near TTK Road, the men tried to flee but were intercepted.

When the police checked the men, they found wads of 2000 and 500 rupees notes tied to their torso. It is possible that the cash could be for the purpose of a hawala arrangement and they had come to deposit it in the ATM. When asked about the money, the men gave conflicting answers. They did not have any documents to explain the large amount of cash. One of them said their employer gave it but could not provide details about him/her.
