Paralympics are also an important sport in the country and across the nation. There is less promotion and exposure to the events, but many Telugu-speaking players participate. Deepthi Jeevanji, who hails from a remote village of Warangal district, recently won a Paralympic medal and made everyone proud.
Deepthi is a big fan of Megastar Chiranjeevi, and upon registering for the achievement, she expressed her wish to meet Megastar Chiranjeevi. Legendary badminton player and coach Pullela Gopichand conveyed the same to Chiranjeevi, who immediately obliged the request.
“When I conveyed this to him, he immediately said how he could not meet someone who had achieved such a monumental milestone. He said not she, but he would come to our academy to meet her. As promised, he visited our academy and spent nearly two hours interacting with the kids. His presence and words were truly inspiring for everyone,” said Pullela Gopichand.
Later, Chiranjeevi presented a cheque of Rs. 3 lakhs to Deepthi.
“This heartfelt gesture deeply honored us. With his inspirational interaction, we hope to see many more aspiring kids achieve great heights in the sport,” said Gopichand, who is the chief coach of the Indian National Badminton Team.
