After the sensational sweep by the TDP-BJP-Jana Sena alliance in Andhra Pradesh's recent elections, which decimated the once-powerful Jagan Mohan Reddy and the ruling YSRCP, the new government led by CM Chandra Babu Naidu quickly got to work with the administration.
Jana Sena chief, Power Star Pawan Kalyan, assumed the role of Deputy Chief Minister, while Kandula Durgesh became the state's Tourism and Cinematography Minister. Upon taking the oath, Kandula Durgesh spoke to the media and emphasized his commitment to developing Andhra Pradesh into a tourism hub similar to Gujarat and Rajasthan. He also pledged to make concerted efforts to attract the cinema industry to the state.
Addressing the media in Rajamahendravaram, Durgesh reiterated his vision for maximizing the state's tourism potential and enhancing its appeal as a destination for the film industry. His arrival in Rajamahendravaram was met with a grand procession, and he was welcomed by the local populace at Vijjeswaram Bridge. East Godavari district collector K. Madhavi Latha and joint collector Tej Bharat also greeted him warmly.
Later, Durgesh met Mega Star Chiranjeevi, a former Union Tourism Minister, on the sets of his upcoming film "Vishwambhara." Chiranjeevi warmly received and felicitated him. He expressed his pleasure at welcoming Durgesh on this auspicious occasion, congratulating him on his new role. Chiranjeevi remarked, "It is a great pleasure to welcome my friend Mr. Kandula Durgesh on the sets of 'Vishwambhara' on the occasion of his assumption of charge as Minister of Tourism & Cinematography of Andhra Pradesh. I wish him complete success in his duties as a minister!"
Chiranjeevi also highlighted Durgesh's positive attitude and willingness to address the challenges facing the Telugu film industry. He expressed confidence in Durgesh's ability to fully develop Andhra Pradesh's vast tourism potential, ensuring that all tourist destinations in the state are fully developed.
