Mega Breaking: Article 370 proposed to be revoked

Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said in Rajya Sabha that the controversial Article 370 would be revoked. Jammu & Kashmir will be a Union Territory with legislature. Keeping in view the prevailing internal security situation, fuelled by cross border terrorism in the existing state of J&K, a separate UK for J&K is being created, the Government today said.
Furthermore, Ladakh (a region in J&K) would be made a Union Territory without a legislature. Ladakh is a sparsely populated large area with difficult terrain. There has been a long-pending demand of people of Ladakh to give it the status of a UT to enable them to realize their aspirations, the government notification said.
What about Article 35A? Since #Article 35A stems from #Article370 in an annexure to Constitution, it too will become invalid, says Minhaz Merchant, an analyst.
