Student from Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research sets new record in yoga on Women's Day

Priyadarshini, a student of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education & Research (MAHER), KK Nagar, West Chennai, has featured in the India Book of Records. She is listed in the India Book of Records for 60 consecutive minutes in the form of a single-footed Rajakapodasana sitting in the form of a mermaid.
The previous record was set on August 15, 2021, when Nandini Sarda sat for 51 minutes and 58 seconds. Following that, student Priyadarshini set a new record by sitting in that pose for a full 60 minutes. The event was held on 08.03.2022 at the Meenakshi Ammal Dental College auditorium on the occasion of Women's Day.
The event was hosted by the Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research. Thiru. A.N Radhakrishnan, Chancellor of the College, Mrs Jayanthi Radhakrishnan, Rector, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr R.S. Neelakandan, Registrar Prof. Dr. C. Krithika, Dr. V. Shanthi, Principal-FHS along with the judging panel of the Indian Book of Records. Priyadarshini, who had been studying yoga diligently with Yogaratna Saraswati for three years. As her tutor, she is also a graduate in Yogaratna.
Currently, she is a third-year student of commerce at MAHER. Priyadarshini said that the encouragement given by her college principal Dr V. Shanthi and Department Head S. Malarvizhi and encouragement provided by the MAHER University administration was the reason for her achievement, and thanked the college administration for supporting and sponsoring.
