'Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu', directed by E Satthi Babu, hits the screens today.  Here we give you the review:

Story:

When the rich party girl (played by Shruti Sodhi) is safely taken to her house without being raped by Prashanth (Naveen Chandra), she falls in love with the great man because he didn't take advantage of her alocholic state.  After convincing Hyderabad's only non-rapist guy that she seriously loves him (she has sacrificed holidaying in Shimla/Darjeeling, mind it), they both go to the tycoon dad.  The girl's tycoon dad (Murali Sharma) shows the guy his place, only to be given a lecture about the difference between 'anandam' and 'santosham'.

Half-enlightened by the lecture, Murali Sharma commissions Posani Krishna Murali, a film producer who is now bankrupt, to make a super flop film so that he can experience the pain of loss to derive 'anandam' from profits, courtesy Prashanth.

It's show time.  Enter '30 years industry' Prudhvi, who is the 15-year-old hero of 'Tamala Paku', directed by the third-rate maker Rolled Gold Ramesh (Krishna Bhagawan).

Murali Sharma's calculations go upside down.  And then comes the urgently done climax wherein he attains self-discovery in an incredibly short time.

Analysis:

Long before the idea of comedy was reduced to spoofing superstars in Telugu cinema, a director said that most of the films that are made are parodies.  If he were to be asked for his opinion now, he may well say, "Most of the films that are made are parodies of parodies."

There is your heroine who feels sorry that the hero didn't get tempted during that night and molest her.  The hero tells her, 'Don't get over bold', whatever that means.  The heroine is so deeply in love that she doesn't mind exposing her cleavage to this great Non-Rapist, so much so you will want to root for the properly measured reel heroine (played by Saloni), who was actually supposed to be a comedienne.

Irony No. 1: The girl meant to evoke laughter comes across as the serious character. Thanks!

If the comedienne turns out to be way too normal (was she really doing a Meena from 'Chanti'?), the comedian Prudhvi takes over the film, spoofing Balakrishna, Uday Kiran, NTR, Prabhas and more with bare minimum variation.

Irony No. 2: The one imitating a range of actors with the least variation range is called as Variation Star Veera Babu!

We have seen films with a lot of parodies, but here is a film whose story itself is a parody.

While Prudhvi is the hero, there is an overdose of him.  After a point, the fact that he is a 15-year-old teen boy is forgotten.  In one scene, he talks like a child-man.  In the next scene, he turns into the Prudhvi of 'Loukyam'.  There is no consistency in his characterization.

Posani delivers a few laughs and he is the only comedian of the film who didn't forget that he was supposed to be a comedian.  Saloni puts up a good show, while the hot Shruti is wasted in a badly-sketched role.  Naveen Chandra is forgettable.  Raghu Babu, Vidyullekha Raman and Dhanraj don't help the matters.  Murali Sharma has a certain stature and he shouldn't agree to do half-baked roles like this one.

The technical departments leave much to be desired.

Verdict:

This one line description may help you understand the pathology of this film: The deliberately ridiculous film within film (that is, 'Tamala Paku') becomes the film we the audience end up watching because the indeliberately ridiculous makers didn't understand how inherently farcical their idea is.
