IAS officer Yash Pal Garg, who has been posted in Chandigarh, has been in the news over a CPR that he performed recently as first aid. Firstly, what is CPR? It is Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), an emergency procedure that can help save a person's life if their breathing or heart stops.

However, several doctors have come out in the open to say that the IAS officer actually put the person's life in danger. By the IAS officer's own admission, he is not trained to do CPR. He had learned about it by watching videos on TV/YouTube.

Dr. Namrata Datta schooled the IAS officer saying that CPR, when administered wrongly, can do much more damage. "The damage includes breaking ribs and cutting the arteries and veins, and may even pierce the heart. CPR needs the patient to lay on a hard flat surface first," she wrote.

Dr. Pooja Tripathi was speechless upon watching the video. "Patient is wide awake, is sitting, and is even asking you to stop! CPR as a basic primary aid should be trained so that this jolting right here should not happen," she wrote.

"The IAS officer is a Health Secretary and he himself is not trained in giving CPR. Imagine the training policies he makes. He could have ended up rupturing the lungs," wrote Aashish.

The mainstream media is lauding the IAS officer. But social media is schooling him.
