Narendra Modi's Wednesday rallies in West Bengal's Kolkata and Siliguri were massive hits. As per several accounts, the crowds turned out in gargantuan numbers. Never in the past had BJP seen such mega rallies in the State. It's said that even Mamata Banerjee's well-attended rallies pale out in comparison.
The social media has been agog with video clips of the rallies. However, the mainstream media in the State has apparently blacked out the pics from the rallies. "Editorial freedom is sacrosanct. Nevertheless, it is curious that the captive media in Kolkata did not print photos of the crowds at Narendra Modi meetings in Siliguri & Kolkata. Would they have been so selective had there been large patches of open ground?" writes Swapan Dasgupta, a BJP Rajya Sabha MP.
"The undercurrent in West Bengal is fast turning into a wave. TMC has betrayed and looted Bengal. BJP will develop Bengal," the Prime Minister said hours after the rallies.
