Mayavi
After the mega success of Thommanum Makkalum, Mammootty and Shafi team up again in the new film 'Mayavi,' written and executed in line with Shafi's characteristic style. The film is a full fledged entertainer. Of late, Mammootty is into a lot of realistic films which also got good reviews.
Mayavi tells the story of a handsome guy named Mahi (Mammootty) who always tries to maintain law and order in the society. He is nicknamed Mahi I.A.S. by the people who know him.
For Mahi, I.A.S. stands for 'Irutt Adi Service' or beating up anonymously in the dark.
Mahi is in a dilemma because of the many problems happening in society. He always gives solutions to all these problems which come to his notice. His way of solving problems is quite different. He secretly solves the problems in his own style. His main aim is to make people lead a happy life. "Mahi is not a criminal. He cannot stand injustice. He often takes the fall for his friends, and is a familiar face in prison. He is known to give wrongdoers a taste of their own medicine," narrates Shafi.
Mammootty rates Mayavi as a full-fledged entertainer with few serious moments. Gopika plays Indhu, an educated villager in the film, while Manoj K. Jayan plays a bank employee who is found guilty of fraudulence.
The film boasts of a huge star cast that includes Sai Kumar, Cochin Haneefa, Manikuttan, Salim Kumar, KPAC Lalitha, Suraj, Vijayaraghavan, Spadikam George, P Sreekumar and Santosh Jogi. The writer-director duo Rafi and Mecartin have scripted this movie, which is being produced by P. Rajan under the banner Vaisakha films.
Lyrics by Vayalar Sarat Chandra Varma have been set to tunes by Alex Paul. Cinematographed by Sanjeev Shankar, the film is edited by Hariharaputhran. `Mayavi' will hit the theatres in the first week of February.
