It was recently reported that Sonu Sood's 'Maximum' may well have a storyline similar to that of Nana Patekar's sequel to 'Ab Tak Chappan' or Ram Gopal Varma's 'Department'. Though Nana Patekar was unavailable for comment and for Ram Gopal Varma it was too early to comment, Sonu does admit that his 'Maximum' is the story of an encounter specialist and is based around the time period between 2003-2008 when encounters killings were happening all around Mumbai. He is quick to add though that his film showcases realism but with a commercial flavour.

"Also, our narrative is very different from 'Ab Tak Chappan'," says Sonu, "It is not just about encounters; it is about the real system that operated right those five years when underworld was at its peak. It is about the mindset of cops who were roped in for this task and how their life took a different journey altogether. The kind of research we have done on exploring the mindset of these cops hasn't been done before. I would say that 'Maximum' is just the right blend of 'Ardha Satya' and 'Ab Tak Chappan'."

Well, we wonder what do Nana and Ramu have to say now.
