'Mausam' postponement: A blessing in disguise
- IndiaGlitz, [Thursday,September 15 2011]
'Mausam' has been postponed to September 23. It's a blessing in disguise for the labour of love of Eros, Pankaj Kapoor, Shahid and Sonam.. Read carefully to find out why we say this...
Yesterday the cast and crew of the film held a press conference to clear the doubts over the release of the film and surprisingly no one was able to convince the media over the objectionable point of IAF.
Explaining the point of difference, the talented actor Pankaj Kapoor who makes his debut as a helmer in the film said that some 30 seconds of graphical use in the scene involving IAF is objectionable and the IAF needs certain changes to that graphical definition.
No details were issued at the press meet citing security reasons. Though CBFC has reportedly seen the film and has no objection to it and is ready to give the film a 'U' certificate but the postponement is believed due to the delay in Indian Air Force's No Objection Certificate.
Without the IAF NOC, the CBFC is not likely to issue the censor certificate, without which a film cannot be released.
As Shahid puts it, For the film to release it needs two certificates. One, an NOC from the IAF as the film involves a pilot; and two, the Censor certificate. We had been given a conditional NOC by the IAF, objecting to details in a certain scene. Also, the censors, despite giving the film a U certificate, wanted to re-review it. They reviewed just the reel. Now we have obtained both certificates but we have lost time as the prints had to be sent out for the film's international release. Although we are now ready for an all-India release, we wanted a worldwide release.
This adds to the confusion further... If the movie is ready for all India release then why the delay?
According to IG's close hand from the distributors circle who informs us on condition of anonymity that the movie is brilliantly made with a touchy heartwarming second half but some centers have objections over the length of the movie which is around 3:00 hrs, though the movie puts Shahid in all together different league as an actor and adds enormous weight to Sonam Kapoor's stature as a B-town actress, and of course Pankaj Kapoor's great entry into the elite list of Bollywood helmers, but still the length for some of the distributors have become an issue and they are asking the makers to do some trimming...
Well anyways the movie has given some more time to the cast and crew of 'Mausam' to promote the film which is getting hotter day by day.
After missing the Toronto bus the movie is heading for a London premiere two days before the release of the film and a grand premiere in Mumbai as well.
We feel its blessing in disguise for 'Mausam' and we wish them all the very best...
