The coronavirus pandemic has forced most people indoors and its rapid spread has just started in India in spite of lockdowns enforced for the past two months. Slowly the restrictions have been eased and most businesses are resuming function in phased out manner. Movie theater owners are confident that latest by July the government will give permission to open and they have already submitted stringent sanitary and social distancing plans to ensure the safety of the audiences.
The theaters owners are planning to screen Thalapathy Vijay's 'Master' as the first film to not only pull the audience back but also to give confidence to them and feel that currently, this is the only film that could revive the movie exhibition business.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj resumed the postproduction work of 'Master' a fortnight back and is expected to complete it in the ten days or so. Initial reports suggested that producers XB Film Creators and Seven Screen Studios planned to release the film for Diwali 2020.
It is now said that talks have started between the stakeholders to release the film as soon as the government gives permission. It is still unknown whether a consensus has been reached and will take several rounds of talks but one thing that is certain is that theaters are banking on Vijay to rescue them from the current grave situation.
'Master' has the dream combo of Thalapathy Vijay and Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi as the leads while Malavika Mohanan,Andrea Jeremiah, Shantanu Bhagyaraj and Arjun Das are the other principal cast members. Anirudh is scoring the music, Sathyan Sooryan is the cinematographer and Philomin Raj the editor.
