Nandis have presented an interesting mix of winners in the Best Director category for the years 2014, '15 and '16.

Boyapati Srinu, the mass director; SS Rajamouli, the 'voora' mass director; and Satish Vegesna, the class director have won the awards for the three years. With the three on the different ends of the spectrum getting the prestigious Nandis, it's quite amusing in itself. (This may or may not have been the first time that this has happened in three consecutive years, but the fact that the awards have been announced for the three years at one go has made it all the more visible).

The films they have directed also fall in the same category as themselves, although the creators themselves would eschew such classifications.

Boyapati's 'Legend' winning in 8 categories in total, Rajamouli's 'Baahubali-The Beginning' in 14 categories and Satish's 'Shatamanam Bhavati' in 5 categories are among the season's most glorious victors.
