Mass Actioners only option for Flop Stars

The Tollywood film industry is witnessing a trend of established heroes returning to their mass-oriented roots after experimenting with different genres. This shift is driven by a combination of factors, including recent box office disappointments and a perceived need to reconnect with their core audience.

Kalyan Ram, known for his action-packed roles, attempted to redefine his image with films like “Na Tu,” “118,” and “Bimbisara,” but these ventures failed to resonate commercially. His upcoming film, directed by Pradeep Chilukuri, marks a return to mass-oriented content, suggesting a strategic move to re-engage his fan base.

Allari Naresh, known for his comedic roles, also ventured into new genres after “Maharshi,” but met with limited success. He has now chosen to return to his comedic roots with “Bachchalamalli,” directed by Subbu. This shift seems to be inspired by the success of “Pushpa” and is expected to feature a refreshing new look for Naresh.

Nitin, facing a prolonged period of box office struggles, is attempting to revive his career with “Robin Hood,” a mass entertainer directed by Venky Kudumala. This film is expected to be a typical Venky brand mass entertainer, catering to a specific audience.

Gopichand, known for his action roles, has been struggling to find success with his recent films. His upcoming film “Vishvam,” directed by Srinu Vaitla, promises a “White Mark Mass Entertainer” approach, suggesting a return to his core genre.

This trend of established heroes returning to mass content raises several questions:

Is this a temporary shift or a permanent change in the Tollywood landscape?

Will audiences embrace this return to familiar territory?

Will this trend lead to a decline in the exploration of diverse genres?

It remains to be seen whether this shift is a temporary measure or a long-term strategy. While the box office success of these films will provide crucial

insights, the overall impact on the Tollywood industry and its willingness to explore diverse genres remains to be seen.
