The main trailer of Marvel Studios' "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" was launched this morning at Super Bowl 2022. This film, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and directed by Sam Raimi, is a sequel to the 2016 film Doctor Strange. The movie explores Dr Strange and his allies travelling into the multiverse to face a mysterious new adversary.
The 2-minute-long trailer is the visually best trailer of a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film. It is one of the best superhero movie trailers of all time. The featurette had a lot of surprises packed in it than the teaser including a wider look at America Chavez's character, a peek at Monica Rambeau (from the WandaVision series) who becomes a successor to Captain Marvel.
We recommend the Marvel fans to watch the phase 4 MCU series: Wanda Vision, Loki and What If...? before watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as the plot is highly related to those web shows. Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda is expected to be playing a villainess role in this film while we get to see multiple other versions of Doctor Strange from the multiverse such as Sinister Strange, Defender Strange and Zombie Strange.
On the other hand, the trailer indirectly confirms many major fan theories about epic cameos and crossovers. We hear a voice and were shown a bald-headed person coming in a wheelchair whose face is not revealed. It is believed to be Professor X from the X-Men franchise. It is also being reported that Tom Cruise will feature as Superior Iron Man, Daniel Radcliffe will appear as Wolverine with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool and the Fantastic Four returning to the MCU.
Sources also say that we will get to see Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man returning after No Way Home as Sam Raimi is directing Doctor Strange 2. We have to wait and see if the speculations come true. With a script written by Michael Waldron, it also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams. "Multiverse of Madness" is scheduled to hit the screens worldwide on May 6.
