The Marvel Cinematic Universe never ceases to excite the fans with its unimaginable crossovers. Recently, the studio opened its "multiverse" account with 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' by bringing the Sonyverse web slingers Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to the MCU.
Sam Raimi, who directed the Tobey Maguire starrer Spider-Man series, is returning to making comic book films with Marvel's upcoming film 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness'. The Doctor Strange sequel is also the next multiverse film of MCU, which is reported to feature more highly anticipated cameos as the Marvel characters in Sonyverse are returning to the MCU universe.
Recently in an interview with an entertainment portal, director Sam Raimi opened up about the possibilities of reviving 'Spider-Man: 4' with Tobey Maguire. He stated, "I've come to realize after making 'Doctor Strange' that anything is possible, really anything in the Marvel universe, any team-ups. I love Tobey. I love Kirsten Dunst. I think all things are possible. I don't really have a story or a plan. I don't know if Marvel would be interested in that right now. I don't know what their thoughts are about that. I haven't really pursued that. But it sounds beautiful. Even if it wasn't a Spider-Man movie, I'd love to work with Tobey again, in a different role."
It is worth mentioning that Sam Raimi & Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man is undoubtedly the most popular version of the friendly neighbourhood superhero ou there. Sam Raimi first introduced the monster hit Spider-Man to the world in 2002 and the sequel 'Spider-Man 2' was named the best Spider-Man film to be ever made. 'Spider-Man 3', featuring red and black versions of the web-slinger, made a whopping $895 million at the box office despite receiving mixed reviews.
In 2010, Sony announced that the Spider-Man trilogy would be getting a Spider-Man 4 in the summer of 2011 but Sam Raimi wasn't satisfied with the script of the film. Following the mixed reviews of Spider-Man 3, Raimi wanted the best script for the fourth instalment. After cycling through several screenwriters, Raimi left the project after he decided that he couldn't both meet the studio's deadline for the release. Rather than replace Raimi with a new director, the studio decided to cancel Spider-Man 4 and move forward with a reboot (The Amazing Spider-Man). Now, as the fans are open to the revival of both Tobey and Andrew's Spider-Men, we can expect Spider-Man 4 or The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
