Indian movies are popular in overseas markets as well. Several western filmmakers have taken inspiration from Bollywood, especially from the golden era. Recently, Hollywood director James Gunn, who is known for directing fan favourite Marvel film, 'Guardians Of The Galaxy', revealed his favourite Bollywood film.

He was asked by a fan on Twitter wheather he has watched any Bollywood film. "Do you see any Indian movies @JamesGunn sir?" the fan tweeted, to which Gunn replied, "Many. Lagaan is probably my favorite." Gunn's response was met with fascination of Aamir Khan fans who suggested him several other films of the actor.

Aamir Khan's films are slightly more popular in the western markets as compared to other Bollywood stars. Iron Man himself Robert Downey Jr also revealed to be blown away by Aamir's performance in 'Lagaan'. He said, “I happened to see Lagaan and believe Aamir Khan was extraordinary."
