On the new social media app Threads, Zuckerberg proposed August 26 for a showdown with Musk. Musk claimed he was training "throughout the day," but Zuckerberg said he was ready, waiting for Musk's confirmation.
The rivalry between the two started in July when Threads was launched. Asked if the fight was mutually agreed upon, Zuckerberg compared it to "funding secured," referencing Musk's past tweets about taking Tesla private, which led to consequences.
Musk said the fight would be live streamed on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and that proceeds would go to veterans charities. Zuckerberg questioned using X as a platform, suggesting a more reliable one to raise money for charity.
Meta, owning Instagram and Facebook, launched Threads in July and gained over 100 million sign-ups. X faced criticism under Musk's leadership for various changes and mass firings.
The feud escalated when Musk posted about a cage fight, and Zuckerberg responded with interest. Musk suggested the fight could happen in the UFC's Octagon.
While the banter continued, both expressed enthusiasm for the sport, with Zuckerberg stating he would keep competing regardless of the fight's outcome.
