Marina
Director Pandiraj's simple tale, `Pasanga' weaved magic and audience were smitten by the film, and he is now back with `Marina' that bears a tag line `Pasanga Returns', but no, it's not a sequel to the blockbuster! `Marina' deals with children who live at the Marina beach selling snacks and goodies and who are deprived of basic needs of life. Neatly woven with this will be a love plot of Siva Karthikeyan and Oviya. Jaya Prakash, who is almost like a lucky mascot to the director, will be essaying an important role in this film which will also see 'Pasanga' Pakoda. Vijay who has so long been a still photographer, and who has done photography for films including 'Kaadhal,' 'Pasanga' and 'Vamsam' has turned cameraman with 'Marina.' Music for this film is by debutant Girish. "The pains and struggles of boys selling sundal on the shore go unnoticed. They don't get proper education. There are plenty of other such things that take place in the beach, which need attention. These things made me to make Marina", says Pandiraj. However, Pandiraj is quick to clear the air that the movie will not be preachy at any point of time. "Of course, it comes with a message, but not at the cost of testing the patience of the audience. Things are told in a lively and interesting manner." Recently a video promotional track, `Vanakkam Vazhavaikkum Chennai.' was unveiled with the audio which became a rage in the networking sites thanks to the catchy lyrics and presence of Vikram, Sneha, Prakash Raj, Vimal, Sasikumar and Ameer. The film also marks Pandiraj's first production venture. "Anyone visiting the beach will look at the kids differently after watching Marina", says the director. A film that promises difference, `Marina' is sure to be a much talked about film in 2012 if it lives up to the buzz generated. |
